What started as a simple illustration has developed into a popular symbol of time running out, unexpected changes, and inevitable situations.
What Is the Alice in Wonderland Rabbit Meme?
The Alice in Wonderland rabbit meme features the White Rabbit, a famous character from Lewis Carroll’s classic story Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
In the viral image, the rabbit wears a blue coat and holds a pocket watch while looking directly at the viewer.
The character’s serious expression makes the illustration suitable for humorous and emotional captions.
People frequently share the image to describe deadlines, relationship problems, missed opportunities, or situations approaching an unavoidable outcome.
Where Did the Rabbit Clock Meme Originate?
The original artwork was created by digital artist Luz Tapia on March 16, 2012.
Inspired by the White Rabbit’s appearance in the 2010 Alice in Wonderland film, Tapia created the illustration as a digital painting exercise.
The artwork circulated online before becoming a popular meme in 2025.
TikTok users began sharing it with humorous captions about teachers, deadlines, and everyday situations.
Its popularity increased significantly during September and October 2025, when users connected it with emotional storytelling trends.
What Does the Alice in Wonderland Rabbit Meme Mean?
The central message of the Alice in Wonderland rabbit meme is that time is running out.
However, its meaning depends on the accompanying caption.
For example, students might use it when approaching an examination deadline.
Others share it to express concerns about growing older, changing friendships, or relationships that may not last.
The pocket watch symbolizes urgency, while the rabbit’s expression creates a feeling that something important is about to happen.
Connection to All Roads Lead to Rome
The meme became particularly popular through its association with the phrase “All Roads Lead to Rome.”
This expression suggests that different paths can eventually reach the same destination.
On TikTok, users adapted the phrase to discuss romantic relationships and unavoidable heartbreak.
The White Rabbit represents the passage of time, suggesting that certain outcomes may eventually become unavoidable.
This interpretation helped transform an ordinary reaction image into a more emotional internet phenomenon.
What Does “The Rabbit Got Me” Mean?
Another related trend emerged in November 2025.
Users began sharing videos with the phrase “The Rabbit Got Me,” often describing experiences involving heartbreak, disappointment, or unexpected life changes.
In this context, the rabbit represents an event that changed someone’s circumstances.
